Jordan and Dan are getting married on 22 May 2025 in beautiful Charlottesville, Virginia! You can let us know whether you think you’ll be able to make it by clicking the link below:
But first, here’s a bit of practical information:

How do I get to Charlottesville?
Charlottesville has its own airport (CHO), so you could fly there. Alternatively, when coming from abroad it might be easier to fly into Washington DC (DUL) and take the Amtrak train from there. There’s also Richmond (RIC), which is an hour’s drive away.
What’s the game plan?
We’ll be having a ceremony and a light picnic at 12:30pm in the Pavilion VIII Garden at the University of Virginia. After that, we’ll regroup for dinner, drinks and dancing at 5:30pm at The Space Downtown.
Don’t worry if you can only make it to one or the other event – the whole thing will be very relaxed, and we’d just be happy to have you there for any part of it.
How will I get to the venues?

Everything in Charlottesville is a pleasant walk away, and rarely more than half an hour. There is also a good bus system, including a useful and free ‘trolley’ service that goes back and forth regularly between the UVA Campus area (‘The Corner’) where the ceremony is, and the downtown area where the party will be.
It is also easy to get around by Uber, but bear in mind that the ceremony is on university Grounds (the UVA word for ‘campus’), which means that you will still have to walk the last ten minutes.
If you are driving yourself, the best place to park for the ceremony is at the iconic Corner Parking Lot (there’s a movie about it). For the party/dinner, there are lots of options. One of them is the Water Street Parking Garage, which is two blocks away from the venue.
Here are Google maps links for the venue for the ceremony at 12.30pm (Academical Village, Garden VIII) and the venue for the party at 5.30pm (The Space Downtown).

What should I wear?
Whatever you like! But if you would like to wear something colourful, we wouldn’t object.
Where should I stay?
There are lots of nice hotels, historic inns and (air)bnbs in Charlottesville. We’d recommend staying somewhere close to the Downtown Mall so that you can enjoy the town and walk places. We’ve stayed at the Quirk Hotel before, which we liked and which is nicely located in between the two venues.
What else is there to do in Charlottesville?
Lots! We love Charlottesville, and if you’re thinking of making a longer trip out of this, we’d recommend it. Charlottesville is a lovely, vibrant town full of excellent restaurants, pleasant bars, live music etc. It is surrounded by vineyards and close to Shenandoah National Park. Here are a few things worth doing:
- Waste away an afternoon or evening on the tree-covered patios of the Downtown Mall and check out the quirky shops (but beware the endless labyrinths of Daedalus Books – you may never emerge).
- Stroll through the iX Art Park, especially during their Saturday farmers’ market.
- Take a winery tour.
- Take a history tour of Thomas Jefferson’s house at Monticello or James Monroe’s Montpelier.
- Go to an outdoor concert at the Ting Pavilion or one of the other venues.
- Go for a fine food and a Dealer’s Choice cocktail at the marvellous Alley Light speakeasy – reservation recommended.
- Go on a scenic hike. A number of trails start right in town.
We’ll probably organise a couple of outings around Charlottesville in the days before and after the wedding, so if you are planning to come early and/or stay longer, be sure to let us know about it.
